Fulfilling the Great Commission

Ocean Air Christian Fellowship was started in 2020 by  JBGmg Founder and Sunset Beach Resident "JB" James B. Griffin. Ocean Air Christian Fellowship held their initial meeting on the beach in Sunset Beach next to Tower 26  on 10/18/2020 with four in attendance. As they say at  NASA OACF  officially  has lifted off .  The Mission of OACF  is to fulfill the great commission Matthew 28: 18-20 which talks about sharing the good news to all who will listen  “And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. In layperson terms sharing our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to all who are open to listen. 

"JB" the founder of OACF is a bible layperson and has a track record of starting, launching new services, products, events and ideas which is his passion. "JB" has held many gigs as outlined in his book he published in 2017 titled 57 Jobs and counting a career path less traveled and guide to finding your passion. At the age of 19 "JB" raised Catholic accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior while attending College in upstate NY in 1975. With his newly found faith life was not without difficulties but it gave “JB” as he said a place to lay his burdens and help direct his paths during good times and bad.  From 1986 - 1988 "JB" served as the President of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Pasadena, CA Adult Chapter and was responsible for Coordinating the Annual FCA Rose Bowl Breakfast which featured current and former Athletes sharing their faith as keynote speakers . Guest speakers in those events that “JB”  was able to recruit included   Donn Moomaw UCLA Football Legend and former  Pastor of the Bel Air Presbyterian Church, Orel Hershisher of the LA Dodgers, Ralph Drollinger, UCLA Basketball Star and Rodney Peete and Erik Afholter former USC Trojans Football stars.  ."JB" mentioned meeting all the famous athletes as a member of the FCA was an eye opener as they shared their personal story and their testimonies. 

While in Dallas, TX at an FCA convention in 1987,  "JB" had the chance to meet with Tom Laundry the Legendary Former Dallas Cowboys Football  Coach one on one. Tom shared with "JB" how in High School he was named the Texas Football Player of the Year, in College he played in the Cotton Bowl and then as a member of the NY Giants he played in “the greatest game ever” as it was called  against the Baltimore Colts in the 1950s’ 

With all his accomplishments Tom said he was unhappy, not fulfilled. Tom went on to tell  "JB" that when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior he felt comfort  that he had never experienced and said that only then was he at peace despite all of his athletic accomplishments which he said left him empty. That is until he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior.

The initial vision "JB" had for OACF was to meet once a month on the 3rd Sunday of the month on the beach in Sunset Beach and beyond if led  and welcome all who want to learn more about the good news of the Bible and wish to share or hear testimonies from others and their personal relationships with the Lord . 

The current vision for OACF to be a helpful online and in person resource to help fulfill the great commission which the bible teaches those that believe to do. That being to share the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ to all. “JB”  has trusted his ministry to the Lord who he says will direct our paths. For more information on OACF
