Where was it filmed?
Who Knew!
Gilligan's Island was filmed on a constructed studio set with an outdoor lagoon at the CBS Studio Center (formerly Republic Studios) in Studio City, Los Angeles, California.
• Studio Lot & Lagoon: All interior hut scenes and outdoor jungle/lagoon shots were filmed on the CBS Studio Center lot (specifically Stage 2/Stage 10 and the artificial lagoon, which was drained into a parking lot in the off-season).
• Pilot Episode: Filmed on location at Moloa'a Beach on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
• Title Sequence & Exterior Shots:
• Season 1 opening title island: Sandy Cay (British Virgin Islands / Bahamas area).
• Seasons 2–3 opening title island: Coconut Island (Moku o Loʻe) in Kāneʻohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii.
• SS Minnow departure and marina scenes: Ala Wai Harbor in Honolulu, Marina del Rey, and Alamitos Bay Marina in Long Beach, California.
